Thursday 28 Jan

We have received many great books from our suppliers for the bookshop so I have helped Gwyneth unpack them, add them to the bookshop system and put the on the shelves. I have also used twitter to inform our bookshop followers of the best of these books.

I am doing some research for our public relations department for potential speakers at our regular events throughout the year. We have professional development forums, managing the future lunches and outstanding womens series breakfasts. These events are always very popular so we need people great personalities who speak well and are successful in their field.

Following up from the orientation yesterday, I am emailing new members on useful links for the library and some quick tips on searching the catalogue and databases. I have also passed on some leads to our consulting department which have developed from this session.

Wednesday 27th Jan

As it was Australia Day yesterday and a long weekend for some of the staff on Monday I haven't been able to blog till today.

I have been trying to complete some 'summer' jobs as it is supposedly meant to be quiet. This has included weeding the collection to make more room and organising our knowledge bank from filing cabinet to online versions so it is searchable.

Cataloguing is a continous job I plug away at with books at all stages in piles throughout the office, eg. awaiting spine labels or processing.

This afternoon we have a corporate group of 25 people coming in for a tour and orientation of the library and bookshop. I also have to do my entry for the knowledge update email which goes out weekly to our members and has information on news, books and current events in the library and bookshop.

Day One

Well I have signed up and am oiling my rusty brain from my memory of doing the 23 things (I think that's what it was called) with Eastern Regional Libraries a few years ago at http://junkmailer88.blogspot.com/

It's great to rediscover flickr, twitter and blogs. I hope to learn more web 2.0 features and implement them in our service.
